City Government
The Gonzales City council is composed of five elected members.
The Mayor is elected every two (2) years.
City Council members are elected every four(4) years.
The City Council:
Sets policy for Gonzales city government
Approves Gonzales' Annual budget and audits
Approved laws within Gonzales
Hires and fires the City Manager, City Attorney, City Engineer
Set priorities for the City Manager
Establish spending limits
Approve contracts
Meets in public to discuss and decide public issues
Regular meetings are first (1st) and third (3rd) Mondays at 6 pm at the City Council Chambers, 117 Fourth Street.

The City Council and Staff of the City of Gonzales will realize our Vision by providing the leadership, commitment and resources necessary to provide excellent services that enhance the quality of life of our diverse community.
City services will be delivered in a cost-effective, respectful and friendly manner to insure the safety and well being of the residents and the promotion of business, recreational, housing and employment opportunities in an environmentally sustainable manner.
