Collaboration for our Youth

The City prides itself in its collaboration with the local Gonzales Unified School District. The School District has over 2,200 students and 283 employees, including 114 teachers. The district boundaries include the entire City of Gonzales and rural areas surrounding the city. The district provides numerous academic programs for its students including special education, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), drug prevention programs, migrant education, and after school sports. No cost adult education classes are also available through the Gonzales Adult School.  The district offices are located at 600 Elko Street. After School Programs

The Recreation Department runs and manages the after school program that gives hundreds of children a safe and fun place to go after school as their parents and guardians finish their own work days.

La Gloria Elementary School

La Gloria Elementary School, home of the Bulldogs, serves students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The school’s enrollment fluctuates annually but averages approximately 900 students with around 50 teachers.

Fairview Middle School

Fairview Middle School, home of the Warriors, has approximately 675 students in the fifth through the eighth grades. The school offers students after school extracurricular and sports activities.

Gonzales High School

Opened in 1908, Gonzales High School, home of the Spartans, currently has over 700 students in grades nine through twelve and over 30 teachers. The school’s mission is to provide a challenging learning environment that supports literacy and numeracy for all students and where all students can attain their academic and personal goals and become responsible citizens.  Students participate in after school sports and a variety of extracurricular activities.

Gonzales Adult School

The Gonzales Adult School provides free classes to Gonzales adults.  Classes include GED preparatory classes, English as a second language, and computer literacy courses.
