November 2023
Announcing Vacancy on the City of Gonzales Planning Commission
The Gonzales City Council is inviting letters of interest from Gonzales residents who would be interested in serving on the Gonzales Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission will be working on the Vista Lucia and Puente del Monte annexations that comprise approximately 1,314 acres on the east side of town. There are 6,200 residential units proposed, four elementary schools, one new middle school, parks, and open space. The City is also preparing its 6th Cycle Housing Element, and a draft document for public review will be released soon. Upon adoption by the City and the State of California, staff and the Commission will work to craft programs and ordinances that will facilitate implementation of new housing goals and policies. In addition to these major projects, the Planning Commission considers a variety of use permits.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn the job of a Planning Commissioner, contribute to your community, and establish relationships with other community leaders. Taven M. Kinison Brown is the City’s Community Development Director assigned to the Commission and can answer any questions that you may have.
The Planning Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the evening. Compensation is $50.00 per month. If you are interested, please submit a letter at the address shown below, describing your background and qualifications and your reason for applying.
