Make Gonzales Your Home
Whether you desire a restored home from the turn of the century or a custom home on a newly platted lot, Gonzales has a diverse housing stock. In 2014 the average sale price for a house was $210,000. Gonzales offers tremendous opportunities for home ownership.
There are many benefits to living in Gonzales, including:
- A crime rate significantly lower than any nearby city in the Salinas Valley
- A public library that is open to all residents and offers programs for families and kids
- A recreation program with many activities for kids, including basketball, softball, soccer, swimming pool and more
- Numerous activities for families throughout the year
There are many financial assistance programs that can benefit homebuyers. However, the City of Gonzales is more progressive than most, offering two local opportunities for assistance:
First Time Homebuyers Assistance Programs
The City offers a first time home buyers assistant program that provides financial assistance to lower income individuals or families who have not previously owned a home. The program provides eligible homebuyers with a 3% simple loan for 30 years with deferred payments. Homebuyers must receive a pre-approved first mortgage.
Housing Rehabilitation Program for Owner/Occupied
The City of Gonzales Housing Rehabilitation Program provides zero interest loans and grants to assist lower income homeowners in making needed repairs. Some homeowners may be eligible to receive deferred payment loans. Approved housing repairs include those that improve the health and safety of the home and extend its useful life.
