Gonzales maintains wastewater collection system composed of pipes, manholes, lift stations, forced and gravity fed mains, and a trunk line that runs two miles to the wastewater treatment plant.
Gonzales maintains a grade II lagoon ponding treatment plant at 400 Short Road. This plant operates under a permit forms the State Water Board.
Gonzales needs to maintain a Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) program. Gonzales is assisted by efforts from Tri-Cities Disposal and Recycling along with Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority. The main theme of this program is that no one should put fats, oils, or grease down the drain. Commercial establishments are required to maintain grease traps to separate grease from their wastewater discharge.
