The City of Gonzales Recreation Department relies on community volunteers to assist with program delivery. All volunteers must pass a background check conducted by the Gonzales Police Department.   For more information about City of Gonzales programs contact the Coordinator, Sara Papineau at (831) 675-5000.

Youth Sports Coaches

Head Coaches – Head coaches receive one free registration with each team coached for the entire length of the season. Volunteers provide a deposit check which is held with the finance department until their obligation is fulfilled.

Head Coaches are responsible for all practices, games, attending coaches meetings, completing trainings required by the City of Gonzales and frequent communication with the Sports Coordinator

Assistant Coaches – Assistant Coaches help the Head Coach with practices and games.

Team Parent – Team Parents typically help with parent communication, coordinating snacks and other areas where the coaches may need assistance.

After School Program Tutors

After School Program Tutors help small groups of students ages Kinder – 8th Grade in academic areas such as reading, language arts and mathematics. Volunteer times are flexible but should be consistent.

Special Event Volunteers

Special Event Volunteers are needed to assist with set up, clean up and event activities. For more information on upcoming events, please call the City of Gonzales
