Retention and expansion of existing businesses is vitally important for the economic success of the City. The city, with the assistance of our partners, El Pájaro Community Development Corporation provides training and technical assistance to members of our business community.

Workforce Development Resources
The Monterey County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) serves as a vehicle to mobilize and integrate private and public partners to effectively educate, train and place individuals with the necessary resources and skills to fulfill employer needs. They offer a dynamic and comprehensive workforce investment system through the America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM throughout Monterey County located in Salinas, Seaside and King City.
Monterey County’s America’s Job Center’s mission is to connect local job seekers with local business. They provide a wide array of job search and employment related services -- at no cost -- to assist you in your recruitment needs. They provide employment related tools and resources, staff assistance and support, as well as job training and career planning assistance.
Workforce Readiness
With several colleges and universities located in close proximity, Gonzales’ businesses can participate in training programs that will advance the skills of your workforce, including English as a Second Language (ESL) programs and Spanish language classes.
Site Selection Demographics and Analysis
The city gathers and maintains the information that you need to make decisions with regard to business expansion, relocation, marketing, etc. We have all the information you need: population data, workforce numbers, taxes and special incentives.
El Pájaro CDC offers low-cost and free bilingual business education and training workshops to low-income business entrepreneurs. The CDC’s objective is to help business entrepreneurs create and operate a successful business. Workshops cover business plan preparation, marketing and sales, customer service, bookkeeping, computer basics, business management, and financial literacy. The CDC also offers assistance to specific, underserved groups in the community such as childcare workers, farmers, or CalWORKs (welfare-to-work) participants.
